Did you perhaps capture any Viking Age axe- or spearheads?

Negroli: we didn't even know what era it was in, but we walked the entire Louvre and the only cuirasses i saw were Greek or earlier and definitely not it.

I have axe and spearheads ranging from Egyptian till the 1600s, i'm fairly sure i got at least a few from the Viking herd but i'll have to check. Rechecked my numbers, we took 9 gigs of photos at leqst, around 4,000 photos. Most came out well, some came out spectacular and others were under the "eh" category of fuzzy. Considering the crappy lighting and/or no flash rule in most places i am surprised we got what we did.

Fantastic news about the Scottish axe. there is a legend and a contemporary painting of an episode at Culloden wherein a highlander belted a brit and was arrested and allowed to live only to have another go requiring more brits to grab him. I think the painting is called "the gratitude of the scots" or similar.

Also the research on pistols and daggers sounds absolutely fascinating.

Yeah the Lochaber in the Tower was the only specifically labeled Scottish item I can remember (and I was looking), apparently the actual design is Russian in origin, but it was captured from the Scots in 1745. I took a pic of the info card with all the particulars. Now that we have around 10gigs of photos, i'll have to go back and find it along with everything else. I just got off the plane from Paris about 2 hours ago and I work tomorrow so it may be a week or so (we have a LOT of photos to label and upload, about half are already labeled but it'll be a bit) so please be patient.

Currently my wife is updating the English museums, with Ireland and France to follow.

Until I post specific age-and-period posts, they will be a large mix of everything from Roman or Bronze Age up to the Renaissance, and a mix of literally "everything" that we got requests for (tools, tableware, etc) so be patient if you're looking for something specific, I will post specific stuff later.

But if you absolutely have to see what we have now, click away.

Not a problem.

Walking through all these places, and trying to get pics of "every single piece" while speed-loading AAs into the camera was....interesting. :)

With two digitals we ended up running through around 64-78 AAs in 3 weeks. Battery run time (usually the problem) was less of a problem than (at first) storage capacity, we forgot the USB cable to transfer pics to the laptop and had to buy one in York.

There are some fantastic pictures there already, thankyou very much for your troubles on all our behalfs! :)

However, if you do not mind my pointing it out, the page of the Museum of London , is in fact the British Museum, not the museum of London. This contains the Sutton Hoo helmet and the Witcham Gravel helm etc.

Can't wait to see more :) Especially from Paris, where I have absolutely no idea what goodies they have in their collection.

I was pretty sure it was the British Museum, wife wasn't too sure, we went to so many museums we kind of lost track.

We'll fix it (I renamed some of the pics before my wife went through and organized it "her way" to post it all, so...kind of my fault). Might not happen right away but we'll get to it.

Great pictures. These teasers have convinced me that the better-sorted galleries would certainly be worth waiting for!

Under windows there are a couple apps that allow bulk download of the bigger sized flickr pics from any user, as long as Mr. Fulton would agree on it, naturally ...

Since people are waiting to see some of these, wife is now mass-loading pics and she will add the labels (took photos of the infocards too) later, unless you have a specific photo you want info on(she can look up the info on those).

The Musee de Cluny pics went up, which has some late Viking and 1100-1200 period swords, a Hungarian shield which was very "odd" (can't remember seeing one like it before) and some other interesting blades and things.

Now up, rondels, ballocks, eared daggers, and a whole lot of other stuff from the Musee Cluny.
