P1796
Good day to everybody!
Have a question about a light cavalry saber, which looks really confusing to me. It has all the bells an' whistles of good ol' P1796, single marking "wHB", no crown anywhere. The scabbard-drag looks more Prussian to me, angular, on one side, and there is no extra sleeve on the scabbard throat . There is leather and wire on the hilt, about 80%.of it intact.

The drag sounds like the one on the Blucher 1811 Prussian LC sabre.

Is the grip fatter than usual, that is the easiest way of telling the difference between the British 1706 and Prussian 1811

Well, it is not fat enough. I've seen Prussian 1811 swords before, only trooper's. The wooden part was not covered with leather, just painted black. Do you, by any chance, know anything about the marking I found? WHB, and "H" is bigger.
