Hello,

Although what meager knowledge I have is more in the area of medieval swords, once you are labelled as a sword nut...

A friend has had this sword in the family for many years. It would appear to me to be a German or Prussian sword. It has a 32" straight quillback blade which is stamped Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Co Solingen.

I have attached photos, any assistance in identifying this sword would be greatly appreciated :)

I do have higher res photos I can send if need be.

I think its a Prussian model 1882 Officers sword. I'm not sure what branch of the service though. I'll see what I can find.

I am going to say now, that it is a model 1889 Prussian Cavalry sabre. Its got that spiffy finger notch in it. Will see if anyone else agrees with me.

It is a Prussian Kavallerie Degen Model 1889. That is about all I can tell you about it. :\
