Another 15th c. painting, another peek at the material culture of peasant soldiers. This is late 15th c. Note the embossed "face" buckler on the figure at right and variety of armour. And if anybody has a pattern for a simple hood like the one on the helmeted figure at center, I'd love to get that or at least gets some tips on construction. These thin, form-fitting hoods seem to have been very common for wear under sallets in this period. I want to make one to display under my sallet and bevor.
