My Albion Norman has arrived
I must echo my fellow forumite's reactions- I am very pleased. The sword arrived with no damage. The finish is great and homologous. the edge is uniform and very sharp. The end of the tang has been blended with the pommel into invisibility. One thing that should be emphasized is how the pommel which looks quite plain in 2D presents itself in person- the gentle shape of a more substantial middle blending into thinner ends is very appealing, and surprizing.
My initial reactions of the handling are shaped by the fact that this is my first true single-handed sword of the high middle ages. I do have a Del Tin 12th c. but there is no comparison. I also have a A&A custom war sword circa. 1300 and an A&A Irish sword circa. 1480- so my other blades are different animals entirely. Compared to my Irish sword my Norman has much more blade presence- something I did not expect- but now realize is inevitable in this time period. In handling the Norman I believe that the description Albion provides of "brutally efficient" is very apt. It tracks nicely and with authority. I can imagine it dealing well with the lightly armored opponents of the period. I just wish I had a nice kite shield to go along with it to appreciate authentic period usage. I can provide other details as requested. Thanks, :D
Excellent news. I'm glad the Norman lives up to the NextGen name. I think it is a great option for those who want to get a NextGen but cannot afford the more expensive pieces. Personally I am growing more fond of this sword by the day. :)
Congratulations, Jeremy! I'm sure it's an awesome sword.

It's nice to hear about people receiving their NextGen swords as I look forward to receiving mine!
