Valiant Armoury Medieval Falchion
I am giving a Christmas gift to my Brother n Law that will include a custom display with his Arms on it. The question is , he is a falchion affectionado and I was looking at a few blades when I came across this one. I don't want to spend a bunch on this but, I am already way over my limit anyway.
Has anyone seen this piece or have any opinions? Outside it's not a "Vassal" .

There is a new review of it here: http://www.sword-buyers-guide.com/medieval-falchion.html

Seems like an interesting but not historical piece and the above review seems very balanced to me, and it gives a good idea what to expect i.e. Orks and fantasy and modern style construction.

In the right context I sort of like it. ;)

Thanks, Jean.
He is the type that likes heavy hitting swords.
But he also like my St. Michael falchion as well.
The MRL/Windlass "German Falchion" is a good buy, and is based on the Thorpe Falchion.
Why did they thicken the blade and add a fuller? It is so odd looking; I would rather buy the MRL falchions. Del Tin's falchion is quite nice; Lord Grey's Retinue has a few owned by members but I am sure it is a bit more expensive than the MRL versions and the one pictured.
Thank you for your insight. After thinking about it and reading, yea...it's a big butcher knife. Sean, I think I'll take your advice.
Thanks guys.
The valiant armoury falchion's aesthetics look very modern to me: It sort of reminds me of 1970's to 1980's custom knives as far as style of handle and guard. I sort of like the blade profile at the top back end of the false edge that gives it the
" ORC-LIKE " barbarian fantasy look.

Being overbuilt is O.K. to a degree and handling could have been " reasonable " if there was some distal taper !? ( I'm assuming NOT, from the review I linked to ).

Mostly it reminds me of a giant Bowie Knife on massive amount of steroids.

I sort of like it for what it is based on it's looks and not for what it's supposed to be: A falchion (NOT ) but I think I would have to handle it to decide if I liked it.

Other falchions might be a better choice as suggested by the other posters. ;)
