As I intend to buy (better, let it make for me) a Burgonet this year, I need some informations or photos of early Burgonets/Sturmhauben. Should be about 1525 to 1550 (Doppelsöldner, no knights helmets) , Germany or Italy, and I thought it would be no problem, but surprisingly I did only found few photos and some drawings. As anybody has something about this helmet it would be nice to share it with me, Thanks, Peter

Then download the very large PDF file (7.6 M) of Der Landsknecht im Spiegel der Renaissancegraphik um 1500 - 1540. It's a German-language document contains more than 200 contemporary image of Landesknechts (starting on page 296). It's the most complete visual resource I've found. I burned it to CD, and would encourage other Landesknecht afficionados to do the same. You'll find a few images of German infantry burgonets for the period of your interest.

@Chad: of course I checked the Spotlight article before posting a new Thread, but there are only few helmets in the first half of 16th cent. , it´s sad, but most are to late for me .

So after waiting for a long time I finally got my new Burgonet/Sturmhaube from Tomasz Tsamula...I think it´s really wonderful, I hope You like it too...thanks Chad, for the photos, You will recognize it.
It´s a closed Sturmhaube, because the two wings meet under the chin, so it delivers more protection.

I find the fact that a piece of armor has just come alive out of the pages of a history book completely fascinating. I'm never going to look at the photo of an attractive helmet the same way again.
