I would rather find a store that has it and buy it there than get a subscription to find your article but it might become a magazine I buy regularly or when an article of particular interest to me is published.

I am wondering what your thoughts and personal theories are regarding the possible origins of the ores and imported ingots used in Western Persian blades?

The small number of active archeometallurgists seem to be compiling a progressively larger body of evidence (smelting sites, recovered crucibles, etc.) suggesting that crucible steel (actually largest known ingots, some of the right carbon composition to behave like India Wootz) was being made from Turkmenistan and farther West from dates of around 0 A.D. throughout most of the medieval period. It seems to remain true that the most beautiful and highly prized/famed artifacts were identified as having been made from imported India materials, but I am wondering if this might have been something of an exotic exception for products from areas like Damascus.

Crucible steel ingots were made in Turkmenistan and also in Khorasan, other production centers existed as well for sure. I am doing further research in this field and a research team set up in Iran is gaining more and more information. I will write on this issue later in an article.
