I am a bit of a wet nose when it comes to the high end market of historic weaponry, but please, bear with me. As goofy as it may sound, I saw a weapon in a video game called Dynasty Warriors. It was a shield with a detachable two sided blade jutting from its end. I have searched and searched, and have been very much unable to find any reference to a real ancient weapon know as a 'Buckler Blade' but I was wondering if anyone had any kind of information on any such weapon. Even just a shield with a non-detachable blade that can be used both offensively and defensively would suffice. I know the fact that it was in a partially fictional video-game should throw up a red flag, but if it's real, I would very much like to find it.
Thankyou.
There is an African or Indian buckler with two blades - one pointing up, the other down. Also, many of the renaissance round shields and targes had a spike protruding from the face. IIRC, there are examples of Scottish targes with removable spikes.
Very interesting, thankyou.
Would anyone by chance have a picture, or an exact name?

There was something similar posted in the recent feature article on combination weapons:

(It's near the end of the article, "Shield with sword blade, gauntlet, sword catchers, and lantern from the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna.")

The Indo persian weapon is called a Madu, sometimes having two opposite facing antlers tipped in iron sometimes blades, there are examples with a third blade perpendicular to the horizontal two. They're listed in Stones Guide and i'm sure they're in Manouchers book.
