For sale: good quality reproduction of the medieval Rus helmet from Gnezdovo in Ukraine, the original dating to sometime between the tenth and twelfth centuries. The helmet is nicely wrought with raised ribs in the steel sections, and detailed openwork brass riveted onto the steel. The central front brass openwork mount extends downward covering the strong steel nose guard beneath. A complete, full butted chain mail aventail extends down to the neck and shoulders covering the lower face and chin as well. Solid steel conical mount at the top of the crowning helmet cone like the original. Nice leather suspension lining and chin straps with buckle. Interior circumference of the helmet bowl is about twenty five and a half inches, but with the thick leather lining it fits a head from twenty two to twenty five inches comfortably. The helmet has acquired a nice patina over time. Asking $175 plus shipping. Email me at davidcastriota@hotmail.com
