Hello Maxime: maybe you can add some more about your training and research about the shillelagh on this Topic or start a specific Topic about them. ;)
For those who don't know, Max has done some serious research in Ireland about the Shillelagh but I won't say much more because I don't know how much he want to say about it here at this moment: Lets just say he found rare and difficult to access sources of information and I don't know what he is free to talk about or if he is keeping this stuff for a future book, martial arts course or article.
Just saying I don't know ! :D |
I carry a custom made shillelagh every were I go, it is an excellent weapon, here is a picture of some old and modern shillelagh.
Also I have a picture of two old Japanese fighting sticks or clubs each about 4.5 feet long...the one with the iron studs is a kanabo or tetsuba, I am not sure what the other one is called, maybe just a bo in the style of a walking stick.

I decided, inspired by this thread, to make me a couple of Shillelaghs of local Finnish woods. Here are the results so far.

Smaller one is birch, bigger is Mountain Ash. Both are oiled.

Hey,
I'm now trying to (using the instructions of found on this thread) make a sort of quaterstaff/peasant staff sort of thing from some form of Gum Tree.
Note to self: Make a club out of Iron Bark root at some point

If you want to make a Peasant Staff then you might want to use an uprooted sapling as your starting point. |
Well, I'd love to, but trying to find a decent one is a nightmare
