Samurai with great sword
Hello,
have you an high resolution version of this photo?
[ Linked Image ]
I've seen a larger version of that one somewhere (~400 px tall) but I don't think I've ever seen a truly high-res (i.e. print quality) version. The sword is more commonly known as a nodachi (see http://japantrip.tripod.com/nodachi/nodachi.html and my post at http://www.myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t...=nodachi), but this is a late 19th century version for what looks like some Edo period punks ;) and I doubt that it's of particularly good quality.

Let me see if I can find that pic again.

Aha, found it!
Remarkably enough I was cleaning out some files from a family member's computer and I found the larger version of the image I mentioned. At 791 pixels high it isn't really "high resolution," but it's better than nothing I suppose. Actually you could print it around 5" high without it looking too bad.

Your email link isn't active or else I'd have contacted you directly and avoided dredging up an old thread. Anyway, PM sent just in case.

The picture looks like it might be part of a collection of pictures of samurai from around the early Meiji era. I've got a couple of pictures in one of my books; I'll take a look-see when I get home and see what the credits for the pictures say.

Thanks a lot for the picture!!! :D :D
Another small picture, maybe from the same collection. This is better than the nodachi one, but if you have an higher resolution version, please post it.

Re: Samurai with great sword
Hmm....I've never seen a great samurai sword like that. It must be heavier than the smaller one. Even I cannot lift it.
