I saw one like this once before. It was reported to be an 18th century Prussian sword. I don't know how accurate that categorization is, but it seems to fit with the sword's features.

I agree with Chris. It looks a lot like the Prussian Model 1735 Dragoon sword.

Nothing to do with a
schiavona, neither for the shape of the hilt or for materials. Eagle is not a venetian motif, Venice had a lion head.

If you register at
www.oldswords.com and search the database for Prussian Model 1735 you will be able to view a similar example. Additionally, this model is illustrated in Richard Bezdek's
German Swords and Sword Makers.
