Oooooooh....... You got a Squire. :D That one's very high on my list at the moment. I was dubbing between the Knight and the Squire. Ultimatly, I went for the Knight, should be a few more weeks though. :)

Thanks, Steve! I'm really quite fortunate, though it's going to be Ramen Noodles and Mac and Cheese for a while. It'll be worth it, though.
As for the wife, you could try to convince her that I actually showed great restraint by actually NOT taking a bunch more with me (which is actually the truth, I wanted 4 more, and I didn't bring the Svante home - ask Mike, Harlan, Nathan, Patrick or Chad). Hey, I'm pullin' for you, man!

I have both a Squire and a Knight. Wonder what that makes me?
They are very different swords. I've been wanting to take them both out for a side-by-side. Perhaps I'll do that this evening when it cools down a tad.
The Knight is a really sweet piece - when I reach for a 1-handed sword to work out with, it's often this one. You're going to love it.

[Thought I'd resurrect this old thread as opposed to start a new one since everyone is already familiar with this sword.]
Just wanted to show off a bit. After many months my Regent has finally arrived with scabbard and belt from Christian Fletcher. I must say that it was well worth the wait. Having handled the Regent on several occasions already it is a joy to finally have one of my own.
Christian's scabbard is simply amazing, the best one I own, hands down. I had him do a little custom metal work on the chape to mirror the design of the pommel. It all makes for a very attractive package. I'm quite happy how it turned out and will definitely be doing business with Christian again. Just had to share. :D

Nice Mark! Very nice! What was the last sword I bought? Well, there's a few different ways I could answer that. I have an Albion NextGen Fiore on order. The last sword I actually purchased and received was an A&A Henry V, but I recently sold it. The last one I bought and still have is an A&A

Welcome to the Regent Owner's Club. :) I happen to think the Regent is one of the coolest and most unique swords on the market. The scabbard ensemble looks great.
Too bad you went with that boring all-black look, though......

Things like this make me regret that Christian now only makes scabbards for swords ordered through him. I have several swords that I need scabbards for and I'm really liking his work these days.

No kidding! How do you like it so far? I think its celebrity equivelant is Gimli -- it's among the shortest of the bunch, but will prove its worth on the battlefield! :lol:

Yep tend to agree. I kind of like it and I'm not usually into such short swords!

At long last, I'm FINALLY entitled to reply to this thread!
I just sent Matt Van Norman the check for his last remaining Northern Italian Bastard Sword. I like the blade profile and its light, civilian orientation. I thought it would be a good sword for working on my cutting technique.
I will, of course, post pics when it gets here.
In the meantime, does anybody know of any cutlers who might be willing to re-hilt the sword? Christian Fletcher, I know, does excellent work, but he seems a bit back-logged as of late, though I imagine his recent move might have something to do with that...
Anyway, I'm looking to add a Flemish fishtail pommel and a slightly-curving, faceted guard. I drew the inspiration from a pair of Italian and Flemish riding swords from The Sword in the Age of Chivalry.

I guess I'm entitled to post here as well. Given the opportunity presented by Albion's recent sale, I ordered two swords last month and they both arrived last week. The first was the Regent with a dark green grip. The second was the Jarl, this one with dark blue grip leather. The green is obviously green in just about any light. The blue, on the other hand, is very dark and looks almost black in all but the brightest of light. Both are nevertheless beautiful. I like the Regent a lot. And, quite frankly, I ordered the Jarl almost as an after-thought. I'm not really into Viking stuff, but wanted a representative example and that one looked the most interesting to my eye. Well, when it arrived I went nuts. It fits my hand perfectly, has magnificent weight, balance, blade presence, that indefinable 'feel'. It's bar none my favorite sword, a very pleasant and unexpected development/surprise.
