Hi W.Schütz,
This is one of these sometimes in internet show up pictures from the old collection of the "Bayerischen Nationalmuseum" in Munich.
The picture is pre WW I and from a time Bavaria was still a Kingdom.
I think the items on display were part of the private arms and armour collection of the "Wittelsbacher" (The Bavarian Royal Family). After the end of monarchy in Germany and two wars, a big part of the collection is scattered to the four winds.
I don't know if the Wittelsbacher family could keep parts of the collection for their own.
But the helmet on the left side and the gauntlet are still to see for the public in the museum.
Maybe you could write the museum an e-mail. They should know something about the old collection.
Sorry that I have no details for the helmet on the the right side of the picture.
Best regards from Munich
Oliver

He explicitly asked for the RIGHT helmet not the left.
Those are great pictures, unfortunatly its the other helmet in the picture im looking for. Not the german sallet but the other one.
Hey W.Schütz,
Are you looking for info/pictures on that specific sallet? As Oliver pointed out that particular one's whereabouts or even the knowledge if the piece is even still intact are available, or are you looking for info on just simple visorless sallets in general, if it's the latter I would be happy to post original and reproduction pictures of other ones.

Well im most of all looking for pictures of the helmet in the picture i posted, but i am also interested in helmets of similar style. If you have pictures please post, all is welcome.
Ok here we go orignals
and one more
Thanks.
Apparently these type of sallets where sometimes originally a "normal" sallet that was then resmithed (is that a word?) to become lighter, more agile and with added visibility, needed for the battlefield in the early 16th cen.
I have also understood that there are several images of this type in the book Armour of medieval rhodes, a book that i currently dont have in reach. So if any kind soul could post these pics from the book i will dance at their wedding...
