I do not have a lot of knowledge on swords, so when I try to identify swords I come across, I go by the markings on the blade as well as its general shape.

So, I have what looks like to me a cavalry or officers sword from the mid 19th century. Unfortunately, the markings on it are not familiar to me at all, and even looks like they were carved in by hand by the inspector or the maker himself. The blade itself is about 31 inches long, and the length from hilt to the base of the sword is about 6 inches, for a total length of 37 inches, excluding the sheathe.
I would like to know as much as I can about this sword as I can, especially:
1. Approximate year it was manufactured
2. What country it was manufactured IN
3. What country it was manufactured FOR
4. If possible, what the markings actually say

These have come up in discussiuons over the past several years and I can never remember what the marlings are meant to say. If I can remember where a great thread re this still resides, I'll add it. I believe it was over at the old version of the Sword Buyer's Guide military section about four years ago. Someone had proviided a lot of photos and historical background for the Persian troops and also the Russian connection.

I was strictly going by the auction listing linked, which may be a dead end but the pattern was exported to Persia for use, rather than the Russian dating theory.

Others may have more definitive information.
