I've just added 3 new hilts to my Basket-hilts by E.B. Erickson album !

These awesome new hilts will be available thru Angus Trim and will feature his high performance blades !
Not sure if they are spoken for or not ,? , but I would think one should act fast if interested !

2.) Germanic basket-hilt -- with asymmetrical hilt . (1. right side of hilt, 2. left side)

3.) Proto-Mortuary hilt . (1. right side view, 2. front view)

Wow Mac! Thanks. I've got one of the Proto-mort clam-shells on tap for next year. Brilliant stuff. Eljay has sent me sketches of the Proto, but to see it in living form is truly awesome! :D You've just brought a tear to my eye, for one I have to wait a year and two jusst from pure joy.

Wow! Each one is perfect. I'm broke. :( I especially like the English Basket-hilt. In fact, that is the type of hilt that I've always wanted to add to my collection; and Eljay would be the one I would go to.

I put my name into the hat last year on the Germanic prototype once I learned it was being made. I'm not certain if that means I'm at the top of the list (I was at the time), as things certainly can change. They're all lovely, but there is something about that Germanic that calls to me. I can picture either any number of double-edged blades on it, but the easist (and still authentic) would probably be to equip one of Gus's 34" backblades to it with a small fuller. Exciting stuff!

On the Proto-Mort, I love the way the knuckle shell is attached to the two back bars, nice design.

I can see me selling off one of my LOTR Limited editions to fund this endeavor.......

I'm thinking that this may be a loose interpitation of an original in his collection, but not absolutely certain, the "man" himself will need to answer that. Historically, this could be true to form. My reasoning behind this being that the Proto-Morts were not produced in as great numbers as the munition grade Mortuarys seen made during the ECW. In my research, it's rare to see two Proto-Morts exactly them same, though I'm sure Eljay may have another view on this.

Here is another English basket-hilt, this one with a similar guard setup to what Eljay did on his !
The main knuckle guard is secured to the pommel, with a screw, while the two side guard arms are left unattached !

Ever notice how much cooler something looks with a clamshell on it? I love that one! I think this is why the baskets are my favorite sword type. There are hundreds and hundreds of different ways to construct it. Seeing new ones is always exciting.
