Hammer Headed Daggers?
Does anyone have any pics of Hammer Headed Daggers and can anyone tell me more about them?

I've only seen one example which was labeled as English, mid to late 15th century. I've seen this one example reproduced in at least 2 different books, one of them being Logan Thompson's "Dagger's and Bayonets".

Anyway late 15th century seems, um, kind of late but I don't have any other pictoral or other evidence to say otherwise.

I'd love to hear what type of information and pics people might have on Hammer Headed Daggers. Were they wide spread? Only English? Is this the only example?
Hi Jason
Great minds think alike I guess :) We have a replica of this in the works. I have actually made two that have sold, but on looking through my pics I fear I did not get pictures of them. I believe there is one in a German collection as well as the one in the RA, but I need to double check that in my research. I would think it will be part of the line up in our stock items in about two months or so.

I know one of the owners of one of the ones you made (that cool one based on the standard rondel blade that you brought to WMAW '07) - I can see if I can get a decent pic from him this weekend if you want.
Ya, Craig, I'll get you pictures of mine too.
Chris, please post them here, too. I'd love to see them! :D
Thanks guys
Thank you guys that would be great if you could. I could have sworn I had a picture but not able to find it anywhere.

I'm glad we'll have some pics coming but what evidence is there to date the hammer headed dagger to the mid to late 15th Century? Is it the S-Shaped Guard? Is there pictorial evidence?
Here are a few pictures of mine. Bought at WMAW 2007. The feel of it is very nice, I really like how the hammer-head locks into your hand nice and tightly.

Craig- I'll send you the raw images and some more than the ones I posted here. If you want I can bring it to ISMAC with me too.

Thanks for posting the pics! Kind of looks like the English infantry sword MRL used to sell they called the "Wakefield" sword - similar type of pommel. Del Tin is making a version of it now, more like the original. Neat dagger!
I have this pictures, but I don`t know from where,I belive the hammerhead dagger dates in the 15th Century, cause the only other evidence with Hammerhead Pommel I know, is the so called English Falchion.

The sword that goes with the hammer head dagger is very interesting as well. It seems like it would be the skinny relative to the grossemesser. Does anyone have any information on the sword, or sword family?
I wasn't able to get the pics of my friend's dagger this weekend (not sure when I will - a scabbard is being made for it), but the pics posted already are pretty much the same.
