Albion Armorers Next Generation Jarl Sword

This weapon is based upon a small group of swords found in England. Dating from the 10th century, the design represents a hilt style of the late Viking age. The hilt represents a variation of Petersen's Type S. This variation consists of curved upper and lower guards, which are normally straight on a standard Type S hilt. This feature may represent an Anglo-Saxon influence upon Viking sword design in the British Isles. The sword's blade is of a Type 4 design, as listed in Alfred Giebig's typology.
