When purchased, Del Tin chose to name this sword after the Catalonian region of Spain. It is now listed in their catalog as simply the "Italian Medieval Sword".

Swords like this were in use in the mid-15th century and often had blades with mainly parallel edges to assist cutting ability, while the diamond cross-section gave the sword more thrusting ability than older lenticular blades.

The blade has a flattened diamond cross-section. The steel pommel features a hatched (or roped) design on its edges and has a raised central boss. The guard curves down toward the blade and ends with round finials, decorated with a floral motif. The grip is wrapped in twisted iron wire.
