Arms & Armor Medieval Knife

Simple knives like this have been worn at the hip of men for centuries. Its versatile blade shape would make it a good tool for general use, from around the camp to around the table. Knives and knife fragments of this type have been found throughout Europe, but in great numbers along the banks of the Thames River in London where trash was once deposited.

This knife by Arms & Armor sports a steel blade. It is mated to bronze fittings that surround a carved grip of stained ash. The bronze plate between the grip and blade is faceted but plain, while the "pommel" features lions, shields, and fleurs de lis. All the hilt components are octagonal in section and the hilt tapers in thickness from blade junction to pommel. The tang is peened over the pommel. This knife has a simple leather sheath.
