This was an informative and entertaining read. Howarth makes a few intellectual leaps, but they are usually well-supported. This book is a very interesting look at life in Anglo Saxon England and how the Conquest changed that picture completely. I especially appreciated the looks at village/country life, as it really personalized the story. Overall, a great read and good learning experience.
