This book has 1 myArmoury member review available: David Black Mastro :: "Mastering Jujitsu" is the best single text on no-gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu and NHB/MMA fighting. Authors Renzo Gracie and John Danaher have done a tremendous job here. The section on the history of Japanese jujutsu, Kodokan judo, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu is especially interesting--we learn about the exploits of early Japanese grappling exponents like Mitsuyo Maeda and Yukio Tani, as they took on Western catch-as-catch-can wrestlers. Danaher's section on the value of combat sport training methodology vs. that of traditional martial arts is also thoroughly enlightening. An absolute must-have. Updated Sep 14, 2005 |
