This is one of the most valuable resources covering the practical aspects of the crossbow that I have run across. It contains chapters about the history of the crossbow and different style of crossbow, but where this book really shines is in the constructional details of a crossbow. There are several sections devoted to building a crossbow, complete with detailled line drawings showing the step-by-step process. The book also includes a section about siege engines, and discusses the catapult and its construction, as well as the ballista and trebuchet. A must for anyone interested in the crossbow or ancient and medieval artillery engines.
