Original: German, 15th century
The mace was a weapon that was popular for dealing with armour, as the percussive impact could be felt even when the armour itself wasn't compromised. A strong hit to the areas such as the head or the joints could not only be felt, it could potentially twist a body part painfully. The mace could potentially dent and damage the armour as well, and a well-placed blow may cause the opponent to become restricted by his own armour.
This mace is distributed by Museum Replicas Limited and is a copy of a 15th century German mace. It is surprisingly well-made and feels hefty in the hand (in a good way). The six-flanged head is cast, and the flanges follow the decorative designs of gothic architecture. The brass accents are very attractive against the otherwise all-black finish.
