Hanwei Gustav Dagger
Original: First half of 16th century

CAS Iberia /Hanwei created this dagger to go en suite with the Gustav Rapier they make. The rapier is based off of an original carried by King Gustav II Adolf, though I have never seen an original for the dagger. I believe Hanwei has created more of a "what if" piece rather than a reproduction. Nevertheless, it is an attractive piece for the price, and has a nice solid feel in the hand. It is slightly hefty, which in this case is a good thing. This is one of Hanwei's antiqued versions, which is in reality just a coating placed on the fittings. On many of Hanwei's pieces the antiqued version looks fake, but on this particular piece it actually looks attractive—although it reminds me more of a "fresh-from-the-forge" look than an antique look.
