Ah, its not too bad. Looks ok. Bit plain and simple.

(ok, I'm joking, I hasten to add. The entire thing is superb, and I'd give my right testicle for it. (Well, it is a bollock dagger after all ).)

Does anyone know any information on the provenance of the original dagger? I know that quite a large proportion of the Rothenburg collection's items are considered to likely be fakes of a 19th C origin, but I have no idea which ones though, annoyingly. Has anyone got recommendations on books on the subject of the Rothenburg collection in English?

the metalwork always makes me think of Flemish styles for some reason, but I've no idea if that's right - Or indeed, if its actually fake, which would be a terrible shame.

James,
The hilt on the Rotheburg example is a fancier cousin to this piece from Berlin that is thought to be Flemish:

The hilt is in remarkble condition on the Rothenburg example and includes the funky grip langet (for lack of a better term).

It would be a shame if it were fake. The hilt looks more suspicious to me than the blade, but I couldn't guess if either or both are genuine.

Tod demonstrated once again who is the master...
What an extraordinary piece of work!
A beautiful dagger! Congratulations, Nathan.

Mr. Todeschini has done it again. :)
Again, thank you and thanks To Nathan for comissioning the piece and its curious art deco blade.
